Planning for 2025 Staff Appreciation Week

Staff Appreciation

Staff Appreciation Week is in full swing!  Our wonderful Key Center School PTA has some fantastic activities and treats planned to show our incredible Key Center Staff how much we value their dedication. To make this week truly special, the PTA is inviting families to contribute in one of two ways:

  1. Effortless Support via Givebacks Store: Make a financial donation through the PTA's Givebacks Store website, and let the PTA handle the shopping for staff goodies!
  2. Share Your Delicious Treats: Contribute sweet or savory treats to be enjoyed by staff throughout the week. Donations can be dropped off at the school on Monday, May 5th, through Thursday, May 7th.

Schedule for the Remaining Days:

Thursday, May 8th- Let's help keep all of our learning spaces sparkly clean! Please send in some cleaning wipes or facial tissues for the classroom.

Friday, May 9th- Paint the town (and our school!) red! Wear RED to show your love for our teachers.

Your generosity will make a real difference in celebrating our amazing Key Center Staff. Thank you for considering supporting this important effort!

Key Center School General Membership Meeting

PTA event

We're excited to announce our next PTA General Membership Meeting on Monday, May 20th, at 5:00 PM!

Your participation is vital as we will be holding a vote to approve our full slate of proposed officers for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. This is your opportunity to have a voice in the leadership of our PTA.

In addition to this important business, we are honored to welcome Lucy Beadnell from the Arc of Northern Virginia. Lucy will be presenting on the crucial topics of Guardianship, addressing medical access challenges for students aged 14 and up, as well as information regarding Medicaid and income restrictions. This is a particularly relevant session for parents of middle school and older students, offering valuable insights and guidance. A light meal will be provided.

We hope you will plan to join us for this important meeting. Your presence and participation make our PTA stronger!

National School Nurse Day

Jeannette M.

National School Nurse Day is today, May 7. It is a day to recognize the many contributions that school nurses make to student health and learning.

FCPS appreciates the role of School Public Health Nurses (PHNs) for their contribution to the health and welfare of all our students. Professional school nurses support the needs of students through their delivery of healthcare, contributions to local school communities, and promotion of safety, prevention, and wellness throughout the year. They are advocates who bridge healthcare and education by supporting student health and readiness to learn. School nurses are essential to our community and work tirelessly to make a positive impact in the lives of their students.

We are truly grateful to have our exceptional school nurse, Jeannette Mitchell, supporting our Key Center students! Please join us in expressing our heartfelt appreciation for her dedication, compassion, and unwavering commitment to the well-being of our students.
