Thank you to Abhi Gummadi from Troop 158. For his Eagle Scout project, he got our courtyard ready for students and teachers to use as an outdoor learning space. He mulched, pulled weeds, put up a trellis, planted, etc. Thank you, Abhi!

Mental Health Awareness Month
Since 1949, Mental Health Awareness Month has been a driving force in addressing the challenges faced by millions of Americans living with mental health conditions.
Fitness Fridays
We invite you to participate in Fitness Fridays (as long as it is not raining!), where you can join Oak Hill staff for a morning walk on the track. We will meet on the blacktop at the back of the school, starting at 8:00 AM. Please note that all students must be accompanied by an adult as this event occurs prior to school hours.
School Supplies for 2025-2026
You can order school supplies for the next academic year via EPI school supplies. Supplies will be delivered directly to your child’s classroom by open house or the first day of school. Order your packs at https://www.educationalproducts.com/shoppacks/ using the school ID OAK249.
Flyers will be sent home with your child on Friday. You will get the EPI flyer as well as a list by grade, in case you prefer to buy the supplies yourself.
School supply lists will be updated on the Oak Hill website soon.
PTA Meeting with Police Cyber Safety Talk
Please join us for our final in-person PTA meeting in the Oak Hill Cafeteria on Wednesday, May 21st from 6:30-7:30pm. PTA business will include voting on a budget motion and voting on next year's PTA executive board
After brief PTA business, Fairfax County Police Officers specializing in crime prevention will offer a special presentation on Cyber Safety & Children addressing predators, online bullying, and appropriate use of technology. They are eager to be a resource for parents, so we encourage children to stay home as this can be a sensitive topic.
Annual Book Swap
It’s nearly time for the Book Swap! From now until June 2nd, send in books from home that your child has outgrown, ensuring they are still in readable condition (no coloring, missing pages, torn pages, etc.). Your child can place books in one of the Book Exchange Bins near the Front door & inside Door 4 at Kiss n’ Ride.
After your child places books in the bin, they must grab a paper slip and write the number of books they donated. This will be their ‘receipt’ & will allow them to select an equal number of books at the book exchange (up to 15 books). Receipts can then be given to their teachers for safekeeping until the Exchange. The Book Exchange will be held on June 3rd for grades 4-6 and on June 4th for PreK-3 during regular school hours. Kids can 'shop' with their receipt and choose new books to take home!
Parent volunteers will be needed for all 3 days. Interested parents and guardians should email Tara Finnerty tfinn2011@live.com for more information.
Let's promote reading and recycling within our Oak Hill community!
FCPS Summer Extravaganza
The FCPS Summer Extravaganza is an exciting event that helps families imagine all the possibilities to continue learning over the summer. This is possible by showcasing interactive and immersive activities for children and the power of collaboration across FCPS offices and community partners.
Several departments within Fairfax County Public Schools—including Transportation, the Office of Multilingual Learners (ESOL Services), the Hispanic Educators Association, Career and Transition Services, Get2Green, the Office of Intervention and Prevention Services, and Safety and Security—are collaborating to create a day filled with engaging and educational activities for all FCPS students. In addition, various student school clubs will be in attendance, showcasing their initiatives and contributions. This year, we're excited to introduce the Student Program Marketplace, a new feature where students will present and sell their handmade goods, with proceeds supporting their respective programs. This initiative is supported and led by Educate Fairfax; a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to enhancing educational opportunities for Fairfax County Public Schools students
The Summer Extravaganza will feature:
- Activities for children of all ages that inspire curiosity and a love of learning
- Opportunities for adults to learn how to support student well-being and academic success
- A special section of student-led activities
We invite you to attend and engage with our FCPS community.
Event Details Date: Saturday, May 10 Time: 10:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. Location: Woodson High School Parking Lot (9525 Main St, Fairfax, VA 22031) REGISTER TODAY!
