08 May 2025 - The Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games LA28 (LA28) has announced the venues for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the Games, confirming a dual-location approach that reflects the city’s long-standing sporting heritage and modern infrastructure.
The Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and the Stadium in Inglewood will host the Ceremonies, offering a distinctive backdrop for key moments of the Games. The decision remains largely consistent with the 2017 candidature plan and follows recent refinements to LA28’s Olympic venue masterplan. A revision to the location of
the Paralympic Closing Ceremony has also been confirmed, with all other ceremonies retaining their original venues.
On 14 July 2028, the Olympic Games will open with a unique celebration shared between the Coliseum and the Stadium in Inglewood. The event will mark the Coliseum’s third time hosting Olympic ceremonies, having previously done so in 1932 and 1984, and will represent the first Olympic use of the Stadium in Inglewood.
