Dear Mother Jones Reader,
Immigrants make our communities stronger. They are parents, students, neighbors, workers, business owners, and friends.
But today, our government is taking brutal measures to detain and deport more people. They are tearing families apart. Arresting people in front of courthouses, schools, and workplaces. Jailing people in inhumane conditions, without access to family or lawyers. As people of conscience, it is up to all of us to respond.
Sign our petition to Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem.
As a Quaker organization, the American Friends Service Committee believes that every person has inherent worth and should be treated with dignity, no matter where they were born. Our elected officials should uphold these values, too.
Help us send a message: We don’t want armed government agents disrupting the peace and safety of our communities. We shouldn’t waste billions of taxpayer dollars on detention and deportation. What we need is an immigration system that is welcoming, dignified, and fair.
Sign the petition today. Thank you for speaking out with immigrants and allies across the country.
In peace,
Amy Gottlieb
