From the Experts: Making Perfect Crosshatches
Below are helpful tips from our Grill Masters in the Taste of Texas kitchen, who've grilled over 1,000,000 each.
- Set a two-stage fire with one side of the grill on high and the other medium/low.
- Place the steaks on the hotter side by searing for 2 minutes. Rotate the steaks 90 degrees and sear another 2 minutes to create diamond grill marks.
- Flip and repeat on the other side for a total of 8 minutes of searing.
- Keep a spray water bottle handy to address any flare ups.
- Transfer the steaks to the lower heat side of the grill, making sure to line up the grill marks to finish cooking.
- Use a grilling thermometer to check for doneness (ex. 130 degrees for medium rare)
- Top your steaks with Herb Garlic Steak Butter for a melt in your mouth finish and allow them to rest for 5 minutes before cutting in.
Happy Grilling!
