The latest developments in the Middle East
What's the latest: Iran says it has launched missiles at a US military base in Qatar, in an apparent retaliation for American strikes over the weekend against Iran's nuclear enrichment program. Vision shows missiles being intercepted over the skies of the Qatari capital Doha. No casualties were reported and Qatar says it intercepted all missiles.
The strikes have been condemned by the Qatari government, which labelled it a "flagrant violation" of its sovereignty. The Gulf state has also warned
it reserves the right to strike back. Its neighbours the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia have also slammed Tehran's decision.
The strikes are likely to disrupt travel plans for millions of passengers. Multiple Gulf states — home to airlines such as Emirates, Qatar Airways and Etihad — closed their airspace, forcing planes to divertand causing cancellations at major travel hubs.
