State Assemblymember Zohran Mamdani was on track to win the Democratic nomination for New York City mayor on Tuesday after former Gov. Andrew Cuomo conceded the primary race.
Mamdani garnered 44% of the vote with 93% of scanners reporting, giving the assemblymember from Queens an eight-point lead over the former governor. Without a majority of votes, the contest was headed to a ranked-choice tally on July 1.
