Dear Canterbury Woods Families,
As we close another incredible school year, we want to take a moment to reflect on all that we have accomplished together as a school community. We are incredibly proud of our students and grateful for the dedication of our staff and the partnership of our families. Together, we have created a caring and supportive environment where students feel valued, challenged, and inspired to do their best.
A special congratulations goes out to our sixth grade students as they complete their elementary school journey. We are so proud of all they have accomplished during their time at Canterbury Woods. As they head off to middle school, we wish them confidence, success, and new opportunities for growth. They will always be a part of the Canterbury Woods family, and we look forward to hearing about all the amazing things they will achieve.
Any student who participates in a CWES Summer Reading program can earn an additional prize when we return to school in August. Happy reading!
Digital and print resources are being curated on the Summer Learning Resources webpage for students and families to review and practice previously taught content throughout the summer months. Resources are organized by grade level and aligned to the learning students experienced during the school year. Families can access the materials at any time to review concepts, practice skills, or explore new ideas at home. Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.
On behalf of the entire Canterbury Woods staff, we wish you and your family a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer. We hope you take time to rest, make memories, explore new adventures, and, of course, enjoy a good book along the way!
Have a wonderful summer,
Leslie Malkowski, Kristi McGeehan, and Mindy Milliron
CWES Administrative Team
During a research unit in Benchmark, Ms. Adams and Ms. Branch classes researched the importance of keeping our community streams clean. They wrote persuasive letters to Danielle Wynne at Fairfax County Department of Public Works and Environmental Services that one way to inform their local community of the impact of their actions to the watershed, was to paint a message on a storm drain. The county listened, and the two classes designed and painted the message and art of “only rain down the drain”. This also helped with one of CWES Get 2 Green initiatives of working on watersheds goals. Great teamwork and action from students and community!
Testing Results
Student Testing Results Coming Soon
Through June, you will receive your child’s spring assessment results. If you aren’t sure what assessments your child took this year, you can view a list of tests by grade level on the FCPS website.
Most scores are available in SIS ParentVUE. Visit FCPS’ website for additional information about how test results are reported to families.
Websites for each test provide report translations and help with understanding test results. Please contact our front office with any testing questions or for additional information about how our school and teachers use test results to support student success.
Calendar Survey
Calendar Survey
FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.
Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.
Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.
If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.

Want a quick way to recognize an employee or team? Share an FCPS CARES! Families, colleagues, and students are all invited to submit. The FCPS CARES is automatically sent to the recipient(s) and their supervisor, and is posted on fcps.edu. Additionally, each month one school in our region wins a staff celebration from HR.
