Our principals dressed up as Mario Kart characters

Dr. Doyle, Ms. Alexander, and Ms. Usher dressed as Mario Kart characters to celebrate success in the Fun Run.

Dear Weyanoke Families,

I want to celebrate the truly amazing year we have had together! Our Woodchucks have had so much fun engaging in hands-on activities to deepen their learning. Whether they were playing math and phonics games, tackling creative STEAM projects, or performing beautifully for our Heritage Festival, our students have built a firm foundation of skills for the future.

As we “jump” into the summer break, please take plenty of time to rest, relax, and have fun. Thank you for a wonderful year!

Juneteenth (Holiday)

Friday, June 19, is a holiday for FCPS employees. Schools and offices will be closed.

Retiring Staff

We want to say thank you to three staff members who have made a lasting impact on our school. Ms. Crowe, Ms. Eubanks, and Ms. Mills are retiring after a combined 79 years of service in the education field. The Weyanoke community truly appreciates all they have done to support our students, and these ladies will be missed. We congratulate them on their retirement and wish them the best with the next adventure.

Robotics Team

The Weyanoke Robotics Team showed off in May when they hosted an end of season event for families.

Summer Office Hours

Our main office will be operating on our summer hours from June 22 - August 14. The summer hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Family Science Night

Families came to our Family Science Night in February to enjoy interactive exhibits.

Summer Learning Resources for Families

FCPS Summer Learning Resources are now available for students and families. Resources are organized by grade level and provide opportunities for students to review previously taught concepts, practice skills, and explore new ideas throughout the summer.

Families can access the resources at any time as one of many ways to support continued learning and engagement over the summer.

Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.

Summer Meals for Students

Starting Monday, June 22, no-cost meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the sites and times listed on the FCPS Summer Food Service Program webpage. Students must remain on-site while eating their meals.

At Weyanoke, breakfast and lunch will be served indoors from July 6 through July 31. Breakfast is from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and lunch is served from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.

This year, thanks to generous support from Educate Fairfax, families may also receive one no-cost breakfast and lunch per adult at the following elementary schools: Braddock, Dogwood, Glen Forest, Hutchison, Hybla Valley, and London Towne.

Summer sites will continue to be added, so check the Summer Food webpage regularly for updates.

Heritage Festival

This April, our annual Heritage Festival was once again a capacity crowd. Our students sang and danced to songs from all over the world.

Early Release Wednesdays for 2026-27

FCPS will continue with limited early release Wednesdays for elementary schools during the 2026-27 school year. The number has been reduced from eight to four days.

Early release Wednesdays provide elementary teachers with a dedicated block of time to prepare lessons, participate in professional development and training, and collaborate with their peers. A well-supported and continuously improving teaching staff leads to better educational outcomes for students.

Weyanoke's Early Release Wednesdays are

  • September 30
  • November 18
  • January 13
  • April 7

Visit the FCPS website for more information about early release Wednesdays, including the list of early release dates.

Friends working together at the Childrens Science Museum

Students created life-long bonds at Weyanoke. The fifth grade field trip to Baltimore is one place we see these friendships blossom.
