A Special Thank You to Our Refuse and Recycling Professionals
Fairfax City observes Waste and Recycling Workers Week during the week of June 15 to recognize refuse and recycling professionals who help keep our communities clean, safe, and healthy every day.
You can show your appreciation for the crews serving your neighborhood. A simple act goes a long way.
- Leave a thank-you note or chalk message near carts on collection day
- Offer a cold bottle of water or a sealed snack during hot weather
- Follow proper disposal practices to help keep workers safe (e.g. batteries, sharp objects, household hazardous waste, etc.)
Report Power Outages to Dominion Energy
Severe thunderstorms remain a risk to electrical infrastructure.
If you experience a power outage, submit a report via the Dominion Energy website, smartphone app, or call 866-DOM-HELP (866-366-4357).
It’s always good to be prepared, especially during hot summer months. Stock up on food, water, and emergency supplies. Keep bottled water and non-perishable food on hand, as well as flashlights, batteries, first aid kits, and medications. Keep your electronic devices fully charged.
If a power pole is downed in your area, stay at least 30 feet away and report it by calling 866-DOM-HELP.
