A pregnant woman opened fire at a Massachusetts hotel overnight, injuring a bystander who was in the lobby before shooting and killing herself, officials said. According to Worcester County District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr., the woman arrived at the Sturbridge Plaza Hotel on Haynes Street around 1 a.m. looking for two people. He did not specify the relationship between the three people involved, but described the situation as domestic violence. “This case is very complicated and we won’t be able to talk about many aspects of the case due to our domestic violence statute laws,” Early said. |

A former Canton police sergeant who testified in the high-profile Karen Read murder trial has had his Massachusetts law enforcement certification suspended. The vote to suspend Sean Goode by the Peace Officer Standards and Training, or POST, Commission on Thursday comes after derogatory text messages he allegedly sent were included in a civil lawsuit filed by Read against Canton police and Massachusetts State Police.
