Congratulations to our 6th graders!
Dear TLES Families,
As we close another incredible school year at TLES, our hearts are full of gratitude and pride. This year, we witnessed remarkable growth in our students—academically, socially, emotionally, and as young leaders. Every day, our students demonstrated resilience, curiosity, kindness, and determination, and we could not be more proud of all they have accomplished.
Their success is a reflection of so many people working together. We are fortunate to have what we truly believe is the best staff in the world—educators and support professionals who pour their hearts into this work every single day. We are equally grateful for the trust, partnership, and support of our families. The strong relationships between home and school are one of the greatest strengths of our community.
Most importantly, thank you for allowing us the privilege of serving this community and your children. We know that there is no greater responsibility than caring for, teaching, and supporting your child, and we never take that trust for granted. Simply put, we adore your children. They are the reason we do this work, and they bring joy, laughter, purpose, and inspiration to our school every day.
As is true in every school community, the end of the year also brings transitions. Some of these changes are the result of retirements, family relocations, and exciting new career opportunities, while others are connected to annual staffing allocations and budget decisions that impact schools across the division. While we understand that change is a natural part of education, it is always bittersweet to say goodbye to members of our TLES family.
This year, we celebrate the retirements of four beloved staff members whose combined years of service have touched countless lives. We extend our deepest gratitude and congratulations to Ms. Judy Roberts and Ms. Joanne Jackson, our cherished cafeteria monitors, as well as Ms. Denise Robinson and Ms. Deanna Calligaro, Preschool Special Education teachers. Their dedication, kindness, and commitment to children have left a lasting legacy at TLES, and we wish them all the joy and adventure that retirement brings.
We also extend our best wishes to Ms. Taylor Lombardi, Ms. Mackenzie Walker, Mr. Rana Fawad, & Mr. Ross Jonas, who will be leaving FCPS to pursue new chapters and opportunities. While we will miss them greatly, we are excited for the paths ahead of them and grateful for the impact each has had on our students and school community.
Several other staff members will be continuing their professional journeys within FCPS or in new roles. These transitions include opportunities to grow, learn, and take on new responsibilities across the division, whether shaped by personal decisions, or annual staffing allocations. Among those moving on from TLES are Yazmin Ardila Nino, Kim Germain, Yanghyun Kim, Scott Taggart, Alyssa Grabel, Mariam Jawad, Sam Amey, Elizabeth Crow, and Christine Thomas. We are grateful for the contributions each of them has made to our students, families, and staff.
There is a saying that great educators leave footprints on our hearts. We know that is true of each of these individuals. Their influence will continue to be felt through the students they inspired, the families they supported, and the colleagues whose lives they touched. TLES will not be quite the same without them, but we are better because they were here.
Please join us in thanking these remarkable staff members for their service and in wishing them success, happiness, and fulfillment in their next chapters.
We look forward to sharing updates about our staffing for the 2026–2027 school year and introducing new members of our TLES family later this summer.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the year. We wish all of our families a safe, relaxing, and joyful summer. We cannot wait to welcome everyone back in the fall for another year of learning, growth, and success together.
With gratitude,
Ben Chiet, Sarah Buchanan & Lindsay Duch

Additional resources will continue to be added throughout June.
