06/18-08/21 Summer Vacation

Have a great summer!

Happy Summer, Annandale Terrace Elementary School Families!

As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend a huge thank you for your incredible support and partnership.

Dear Families,

As the school year comes to a close, we want to extend a huge thank you for your incredible support and partnership. Our students have grown so much—academically, socially, and emotionally—and we are incredibly proud of them. Our number one wish for your family is a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. Your children have worked hard all year, and this break is the perfect time to unplug, play outside, and make wonderful memories together.

If you are looking for ways to keep your child’s mind gently active, FCPS provides excellent resources online. By visiting the FCPS website and searching for "Summer Learning Resources," you can access resources organized by grade level and are aligned with what students have learned throughout the school year. Families are encouraged to explore these activities at their own pace to reinforce concepts, extend learning, and stay engaged.

In addition, as we plan for the upcoming school year, we want to ensure every child is placed in an environment where they can thrive. If you would like to share the specific type of learning environment you wish for your student, please fill out this form so that we can take your insights under consideration. Please note that while we welcome feedback on your child's learning style, we cannot accept requests for specific teachers. Thank you for partnering with us to set our students up for success!

Thank you for a wonderful year. Have a fantastic summer break!

Warmly,
Ingrid Badia
Principal

Expanding Learning Opportunities for All Students

At ATES, we're committed to providing every student with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive both during the school year and over the summer.

This summer, all students will be allowed to check out a technology device that will support continued growth.  This will ensure continued access to tools such as ST Math and Benchmark Universe that allow students to work at their own pace and level. Programs like these adapt to each child's needs, providing extra support in areas where they're building skills and advancing them when they're ready for more challenges. This opportunity will allow students to continue their personalized learning at home, to develop digital literacies and important routines around managing their technology.

If you are interested in checking out a computer over the summer, please fill out this form (https://forms.gle/TDAcR38Ld1ro53gh6).

Questions or Concerns?

If you'd like to learn more about how technology supports learning at Annandale Terrace Elementary School or if you have questions as we prepare for this summer, please reach out to John Greenwood (jcgreenwood1@fcps.edu) or Ashley Ireland (asireland@fcps.edu). We value your partnership and want to ensure every family feels informed and supported.

Thank you for working alongside us to provide your child with every opportunity to succeed.

Provide Feedback on Secondary Mathematics Instructional Resource

FCPS will adopt new mathematics instructional resources for Math 6 (middle school only) through Algebra 2 for the 2026-27 school year. A review committee composed of community members, administrators, and teachers met to review materials submitted by vendors. The public is invited to review and provide feedback on the proposed resource.

Access the proposed resource for middle school Math 6 through Algebra 2 in person or on the Mathematics Basal Resource webpage from Saturday, June 13, to Sunday, July 12. Those reviewing instructional materials will provide feedback through a digital form. All community feedback will be shared with the review committee and the Fairfax County School Board before a board vote in July.

Hard copies of instructional materials will be available for review at Willow Oaks Welcome Center, Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. If review hours are needed outside of these hours, please email MathBasalReview@fcps.edu

Calendar Survey

FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff will receive an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.

Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.

Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.

If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.

Institute for the Arts (IFTA) is a two-week camp for students currently in grades 6-11. Students select from nearly 60 classes in art, dance, music, and theater. Rising freshmen have the option to take Health and PE 9 through IFTA as well!

Production Camp is a four-week summer theatre intensive for students in grades 6-11. Students in performance or technical theatre tracks rehearse, design, and build a musical in a collaborative atmosphere. The show is presented to the public at the end of camp.

Prepare for Summer Learning and Fun for Students

E-IFTA is a welcoming, supportive arts enrichment program where students experience Art, Music, Theatre, and Dance each day in a fun and engaging environment. One thing that makes our program especially unique is that they are intentionally staffed with Instructional Assistants (IAs), Public Health Training Assistants (PHTAs), and Special Education Resource Teachers. Because of this, E-IFTA can be an excellent fit for families who may not feel comfortable enrolling their child in a more traditional summer camp setting.

As a reminder, they are also able to offer:

  • Tuition assistance • Transportation • After care options
