Canada’s main stock index rose on Thursday, rising for its eighth straight session, as investors remained optimistic on more potential trade deals around the world with the U.S.
In early afternoon trading, it reached a record intraday high that was last set at the end of January.
It closed at a new record high as well, surpassing the previous record on Jan. 30.
Gains were capped by a dip in energy stocks. But, otherwise, it was a broad move higher Thursday on the TSX.
