From New York City to England, Bally's Corporation, the Rhode Island-based gambling company, has been making big moves.
The company’s stock has fallen under $10 a share ($9.48 at the closing bell Wednesday), but it received good news last week when New York City Mayor Eric Adams vetoed the City Council’s attempt to block Bally’s from its $4 billion casino project in the Bronx.
The project appeared to be falling apart prior to Adams’ veto because the council rejected a zoning change that Bally’s was seeking. Separately, there have been concerns that the Trump Organization would receive a $115 million windfall because it used to operate the site where the casino would be built.
Across the pond, Bally’s announced Wednesday that it will be the official front-of-shirt sponsor for Nottingham Forest, the English Premier League soccer club that finished in seventh place last season and narrowly missed qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
Bally’s also recently opened a casino in Newcastle, England, the company’s first casino in the United Kingdom.
The company is expected to release its second quarter earnings on Monday.
