It was nearing midnight as I waited for my mother to arrive home. She was a nurse and had taken a late shift that day. Oddly, she often reminded me of how I would wait up for her to come home when I was a small child.
This night, I didn’t watch alone. I had man’s best friend right by my side. His name was Benji. He was just honored to be allowed inside on such a cold night. This wasn’t often, so he savored every minute of it.
