GPT-5: OpenAI rolled out its long-awaited new artificial intelligence model, GPT-5. According to Nick Turley, who runs OpenAI’s ChatGPT team, this new model can find better answers, respond more quickly and fabricate responses less frequently than earlier models. Trump vs. Intel: President Donald Trump, in a Truth Social post, criticized Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan as “highly CONFLICTED” and urged him to resign, without providing evidence or details. Tan responded by saying he has the board’s full backing, loves the US and adheres to the highest of ethical standards. Tesla Dojo no more: The carmaker is disbanding its Dojo supercomputer team, upending the company’s effort to develop in-house AI chips for autonomous driving. The move means Tesla will increase its reliance on partners including Nvidia, AMD and Samsung. | |

Accel is leading a funding round for the German AI startup n8n that would raise the valuation of the company to $2.3 billion, people familiar with the situation said. The company was valued at about $350 million just four months ago, a sign of the intense demand for investments in AI. | |

Uber Technologies recently reached a deal pledging, with partners, to buy 20,000 autonomous vehicles from Lucid Group over the next few years. It’s a change from the rideshare company’s effort to avoid expensive hard assets like cars after Uber’s early years as a startup that hemorrhaged cash, Natalie Lung reports in today’s Tech In Depth. Still, she writes, Uber executives reassured investors that investments like the Lucid deal will help the company become competitive in the initial phases of robotaxi service, but aren’t a long-term strategy.
