It’s Friday in the middle of August. So I thought I’d share a silly drawing or two with you. Yesterday morning, Trump announced that the FBI was going to '“go after” the Texas Democrat legislators who left the state in order to stop the vote on redistricing voting to favor the GOP. Its unclear how the agency would proceed in the absence of a breach of federal law. The FBI, although approving this idea, is mum on what they will do. “I am proud to announce that Director Kash Patel has approved my request for the FBI to assist state and local law enforcement in locating runaway Texas House Democrats,” Texas Senator John Cornyn said. “I thank President Trump and Director Patel for supporting and swiftly acting on my call for the federal government to hold these supposed lawmakers accountable for fleeing Texas. We cannot allow these rogue legislators to avoid their constitutional responsibilities.” This is most likely just a smoke screen or a diversion or a way to look tough and scare people. I doubt much will come of it and in fact the Texas Democrats say they are unfazed. It also appears that Senator Cornyn has gone a bit rogue and is causing infighting within Texas GOP as to his actions, which included bypassing district courts to file an emergency petition in the state’s Supreme Court demanding the removal of Texas Democratic Caucus Chair Rep. Gene Wu. Last night on CNN—which we watch from time to time to try to get more information— both Erin Burnett and Kaitlin Collins spent a huge amount of time on the Epstein Files issue. That was very encouraging to see, it feels like both anchors feel passionately about the injustice of this cover up. Kaitlin Collins had as a guest another Epstein victim, it was powerful to watch her speak. The recent meetings with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell by the Justice Dept, the moving of Maxwell to a nicer prison, rumors of a possible pardon for Maxwell, and Trump repeatedly calling this the “Epstein hoax put forward by the Democrats” (he repeated it yesterday) is extremely painful for the victims. Not to mention disrespectful. I try to put myself in their shoes, and cannot. We can’t forget these women who were sexually assaulted when they were underage girls. They were trafficed and they were hunted. A large number of powerful men must be held accountable. If Trump thinks using the word hoax is going to work here, he is mistaken. It is already backfiring, conservative talk show radio hosts are still talking about releasing the Epstein files and criticizing Trump. And one last silly drawing to ease you into the weekend. Thanks for being here, I hope you are doing okay. I will see you tomorrow!
