Flu hospitalizations in Colorado dropped for a fourth week, raising hopes that we might be on the back half of the season.

Nationwide, the picture is more complicated. Hospitalizations are falling, but outpatient visits for flu-like illness were up in the most recent week. A flu B strain appears to be ramping up as flu A infections fall, so we might see a two-peak season.

So far, it’s been a "moderate" season for adults, but an unusually bad one for children, according to the CDC. The hospitalization rate for kids reached its highest level in 15 years, and 52 children have died of flu complications, including three in Colorado.
