Dear Families,
As we approach the spring semester, we want to inform you that Ramadan 2026 will take place from approximately February 17th to March 18th. Ramadan is the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, observed by Muslims worldwide through fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, and community reflection.
We recognize that Ramadan coincides with various school events, testing periods, and student recognition ceremonies. We are committed to supporting our students during this important time and ensuring they can observe their religious practices while participating fully in school activities.
Accommodations and Support:
To best support our students observing Ramadan, we are offering the following accommodations:
- Prayer Room: We will provide a designated prayer room for students who wish to perform their prayers during the school day.
- Students with an approved Prayer Accommodation will leave class at 1:20 and will return by 1:45. We ask that washing take place at home prior to coming to school.
- Alternative Lunch Location: For students who are fasting, we will offer an alternative, quiet location during lunchtime where they can spend their time in reflection or quiet study.
- Testing and Assessments & Evening Events: We will be mindful of when we schedule these events. We will work to schedule testing and assessments ideally in the morning. For evening events, we will be mindful of sunset times.
- Meal Kits: The Office of Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) will provide meal kits reflecting the school menu. Meals will be kept cold and must be heated at home.
Requesting Accommodations:
To request a prayer room or alternative lunch location for your student during Ramadan, please complete the following Google Form: https://forms.gle/D8VyNvyJKg3gTFDG8
We kindly ask that you submit your requests by February 13th so we can make the necessary arrangements.
We are committed to creating an inclusive and supportive environment for all our students. If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact Daisy Gomes, Assistant Principal.
Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gomes
