In the last 30 days, our 3rd graders worked with Ozobots and learned Color Coding. Super exciting time for them to see their little robots follow the color code mazes they completed and/or created for their little robots. Students learned how to be patient with their bots after calibration, where the little robot resets itself and follows the newly created code. Your student also became aware analyzing the issues and how to troubleshoot when the Ozobot would not follow the commands given. Some of the 3rd grade classes eve had an opportunity to go on Blockly and code with Blocks and transfer that code to the Ozobot. Fun times!
Our Kindergarten students were reminded of “who is the boss of A.I. (humans)” and they love seeing the technology teacher in the halls and saying Humans are the Boss of A.I. Our Kinder students also received instruction on how to manage “Icky Feelings” when they see something on any computer screen (i.e. family phones, computers or television) and knowing who is considered a Trusted Adult who can help them understand what they saw and explain it if needed. We took the time to validate feelings of what they saw and how to assign priority to that feeling. Icky, Weird, OK, or Positive. The main key words in the lesson for our Kinder students – Your feelings are important and to know who your Trusted Adult is at home, family, and fiends home as well as at school.
