Good morning Wypierdalaj,

It's the first Saturday of spring, and we're expecting rain tomorrow that could turn to snow for some of us Monday. We're also following the latest on the chaos at the Forest Hills T station yesterday, a teen charged with murder in a deadly Chelsea stabbing, and two historical films that were removed from public viewing at the Lowell National Historical Park. I'm Kaitlin McKinley Becker, and these are your headlines.

National Park Service removes historic films about mill workers in Lowell

A debate is growing in Massachusetts over how American history should be told after two historical films were removed from public viewing at the Lowell National Historical Park.

The films documented the lives of mill workers, including women and immigrants, who helped build the city of Lowell during the Industrial Revolution.

One film described how factories were “noisy and unhealthy,” with workers exposed to dangerous conditions, but also highlighted Lowell’s transformation into a diverse city shaped by generations of newcomers.

Rain tomorrow could turn to spring snow for some of us on on Monday

This will be the pick of the weekend, with somewhat mild temps and a blend of sun and clouds. Breezes may make it feel a bit cooler than yesterday, but at least we’re dry.

Can’t say the same for tomorrow, with a few showers rolling through from time to time.

The day isn’t washed out, but we will get wet at times.

Trump administration sues Harvard, saying it violated civil rights law and seeking to recover funds

The Justice Department filed a new lawsuit Friday against Harvard University, saying its leadership failed to address antisemitism on campus, creating grounds for the government to freeze existing grants and seek repayment for grants already paid.

The lawsuit, filed in federal court in Massachusetts, is another missive in a protracted battle between the administration of President Donald Trump and the elite university.

“The United States cannot and will not tolerate these failures and brings this action to compel Harvard to comply” with federal civil rights law, the Justice Department wrote in the lawsuit, “and to recover billions of dollars of taxpayer subsidies awarded to a discriminatory institution.”

Officer's gun discharges during struggle with man armed with butcher knife at Forest Hills T Station

A massive police presence descended on the Forest Hills MBTA Station in Boston’s Jamaica Plain neighborhood on Friday.

MBTA Transit Police Superintendent Richard Sullivan said T police received a report around 11:15 a.m. of an armed man who was threatening people with a large butcher knife and attempting to stab the tires on a bus. He said officers who were already on scene immediately responded and found the armed suspect, and a struggle ensued.

During the struggle, the suspect grabbed for the officer’s weapon, Sullivan said. As they continued to struggle, the officer’s weapon discharged. No one was struck, and an investigation will attempt to determine how the gun discharged.
