Atoms Weekly Recap

Baseball opened their season by welcoming Lewis Wednesday evening to campus. The Atoms jumped up early and cruised on their way to an opening day 12-1 win over the Lancers. The Atoms take on Edison Monday evening at Atoms Park.

Softball open their season with a game vs Lewis Wednesday evening and made quick work of the Lancers as the night was highlighted by a Tilly Moreland homerun to run away and put the Lancers away at 18-3. The Atoms take on Edison Monday evening at Ossian Park.

Boys Lacrosse had two games to open their season vs Alexandria City and Osbourn. The Atoms visited AC on Tuesday evening and the Titans were not great host as they dominated the Atoms on their way to a non-district win. A quick turnaround saw the Atoms take a trip to Osbourn and came home with a different outcome as Samy Cheikh scored four goals to pace the Atoms to a 7-3 win. Next up is the home opener vs South Lakes Monday evening.

Girls Lacrosse played two games to open their season. Game one was the home opener vs Alexandria City. The Titans got up early on the Atoms and coasted to a win. The Atoms jumped on the bus to Osbourn Wednesday evening and gave the Eagles a game early before ultimately falling 9-2. The Atoms travel to South Lakes Monday to take on the Seahawks.

Boys Soccer traveled to Westfield Wednesday night to take on the Bulldogs. The Atoms took a 1-0 lead to halftime. The Atoms added a second one with about 30 minutes to play while Westfield got on the board late in the second half but the Atoms defense held tough to come away with a 2-1 opening win. The Atoms welcome Langley to campus Tuesday evening.

Girls Soccer welcomed Westfield to Annandale Wednesday for their home opener. The Atoms dominated the Bulldogs throughout and the defense held strong as the Atom ran away with a 4-1 opening win. The Atoms will get on the bus to travel to Langley Tuesday evening.

Boys Tennis matched up with Falls Church Tuesday afternoon in the cold weather. Unfortunately for the Atoms, the Jaguars were the ones brought the heat throughout the match. The Atoms did win three of the matches but it was the Jaguars who won overall 6-3. The Atoms travel to Hayfield Tuesday.

Girls Tennis got on the bus for a short drive to Falls Church for a match with the Jaguars at Jefferson District Park. The Atoms played hard but were no match for the Jaguars as the night ended with a 9-0 win for the Jags. The Atoms host Hayfield Tuesday.

Outdoor Track & Field got on the track Wednesday at TJ for their opening meet of the season. Several athletes were able to get their legs moving as the Atoms mostly used the first meet to continue building on the growth of the team as they move deeper in the season. Next up is a trip to Justice Wednesday.
