Roadrunner Rundown

May 4, 2026

Principal's Message

Dear Marshall Road Families,

We are very proud of our 5th and 6th grade students who put on a wonderful performance of Alice and Wonderland last week! The PTA Family Picnic is Friday, May 15, 5:30-8:30 pm; a fun evening for all - see you there.

Today’s start of Staff Appreciation Week began with a wonderful light breakfast and coffee/ tea bar! Thanks to our parents and PTA for making this “World Cup Week” of festivities start so sweet. Honestly, the gift of gratitude to your child’s teachers this week or beyond, costs a few minutes of time and means millions. Share a kind thought or two when you can.

This is our third and final call for optional input for the Class Placement Form. If you have information to share about your child to assist us, please do so by Friday, May 8.This is a hard timeline; requests received after this date will not be considered.

Our final 3 hour early release for the school year will be on Wednesday, May 13th. Families should follow the same dismissal plan they chose previously. We will not accommodate changes on the 13th, except for emergencies.

Have a great week!

Matthew Chapman, Toni Nauflett, and Kelly Willis

Make May Count

May is the last full month of the 2025-2026 school year. Strive to come to school every day, and be on time, as you look forward to the summer break.

Standards of Learning (SOLs) Start this Week

Students in grades 3-8 participate in state assessments each year. State assessments measure how students are learning grade level standards. Format and timing of state assessments vary by subject and grade level. See the table below. Test formats include:

  • Standards of Learning (SOL) mathematics, science, and reading standardized tests.
  • Growth assessments completed as part of classroom instruction using the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) for mathematics and iReady for reading.

More information about these assessments can be found on the webpage: SOL Tests in Elementary and Middle Schools (https://www.fcps.edu/node/42716). The Grade Level Tests webpage (https://www.fcps.edu/node/50045) outlines the division testing schedule for required assessments at each grade. If you have questions about state assessments or about SOL retesting, contact your student’s teacher or the school test coordinator, Kelly Willis at kawillis@fcps.edu.
