‘He began to choke me': Stefon Diggs' accuser to continue testimony Tuesday

The trial of former Patriots star Stefon Diggs returns to court on Tuesday morning, after emotional testimony from the woman who has accused the NFL player of assault.

Mila Adams, Diggs’ former personal chef, is expected to return to the stand to continue testimony Tuesday morning.

Adams has stated that she was working at Diggs’ home in Dedham, when the two got into an argument about money she believed was owed to her. That’s when the chef claims Diggs slapped her across the face and tried to choke her with the crux of his elbow.

First Alert: Gusty winds, dry air create fire danger in New England

A little spice to the Cinco de Mayo forecast – Tuesday’s the peak of the heat as we surge to summery levels.

We should see our first 80 degree day in Boston this season! The last time we hit 80 or higher was back on October 7th. We normally hit 80+ by May 4th, so this is right where we should be for this time of year.

The wind is the real weather issue today. Gusts will be a bit higher than yesterday – topping 40-45 mph at times. A relatively dry landscape, low humidity, and plenty of fuel in the forest understory could mean any brush fires that ignite could cause problems. Also, with winds this high, some branches may come down, causing isolated damage in spots. Winds will ease late tonight as a front approaches from the west.

Large scrap yard fire prompts shelter-in-place in Westport, Mass. — video, photos

A large fire burned at a scrap yard in Westport, Massachusetts, Monday, prompting health officials to ask residents to shelter in place and close windows over air quality concerns.

The fire sent plumes of smoke high above the area, and the Westport Board of Health asked anyone in the area of the plume of smoke, along Davis Road from State Road to Old Bedford Road, to close their windows and turn off air condition units, citing an abundance of caution as the state’s Department of Environmental Protection tests the air quality.

It wasn’t immediately clear what caused the fire or if anyone was hurt.

U.S. attempt to open Strait of Hormuz tests the fragile Iran war ceasefire

The Iran war risked reigniting after the U.S. tried to force open the Strait of Hormuz for commercial shipping, though a ceasefire seemed to be holding Tuesday even after the United Arab Emirates said Iran fired missiles and drones at it.

It is unclear what will follow after an American attempt to end Iran’s stranglehold on the strait by creating an “enhanced security area.” A prominent Iranian official accused the U.S. of undermining regional security with the effort and warned that Iran will respond.

The U.S. military said two American-flagged merchant ships successfully transited the strait on Monday, but it remained to be seen if any more ships would cross through on Tuesday.
