Kitten Spring Fling is back and better than ever! Stop by our Lorton Campus this Saturday, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for this fun-filled event. Meet adoptable kittens, learn about our foster and volunteer programs, and explore ways you can help support shelter pets. Plus, adoption fees will be waived for adult and senior dogs and cats! No sign-up is needed and all ages are welcome. 

If you’d like to support our foster program, we’ll be collecting much‑needed supplies to help stuff our van. We will be accepting bring brand-new, unopened cat litter, litterboxes, cat toys, cat scratchers, and more.

Get ready to Empty the Shelters with Fairfax County Animal Services (FCAS) and the BISSELL Pet Foundation! 

BISSELL Pet Foundation is a national animal welfare organization dedicated to ending pet homelessness. Thanks to the foundation’s generous support, FCAS will offer waived adoption fees for ALL pets from Friday, May 15 through Sunday, May 17 at both campus locations. 

All dogs and select cats and small animals are eligible for a five-day Adoption Audition.

Adoption Auditions are reserved for Virginia residents only. 

During April, we celebrated National Volunteer Appreciation Week. Our team of volunteers and fosters play a crucial role in maintaining the health and happiness of our pets. In 2025, volunteers contributed over 28,000 hours supporting daily care, enrichment, adoptions, laundry and dishes, and much, much more.
