The defense for a Colorado man who is being prosecuted in a 1994 Boulder killing said Friday that the decision to retry him after his original conviction was overturned in 2025 was about politics, not justice.

One person died Saturday and the second later died at the hospital, according to a Monday afternoon update from the Denver Police Department.
