Woodson Baseball Updates

Woodson Varsity Baseball

Woodson Varsity Baseball Seniors

Woodson Varsity Baseball had a strong week, highlighted by a pair of wins over South County. In a tight pitcher’s duel, Ben Torbert tossed a complete game, striking out eight and allowing just one run in a 2-1 victory. Bryce Walkinshaw delivered a key RBI, while the Cavaliers played flawless defense behind their ace.

The offense came alive later in the week as Woodson topped South County 8-5. Jake Davila led the charge with a perfect 3-for-4 day at the plate, while Grant Goltry and Ian Sawtelle each drove in two runs. Aggressive baserunning proved to be a difference-maker, with the Cavaliers swiping seven bases.

Woodson closed out the week with a 5-1 loss to Centreville despite an early lead. The Wildcats capitalized on timely hitting and power to pull away. The program also celebrated Senior Day on Saturday, recognizing  Ben Hunter, Nicholas Prabhakar,  Adam Sturhke,  Liam Wade,  Will Wise, Caleb Noble, Ian Sawtelle, and manager Jaime Oxley for their contributions.

On the Junior Varsity side, Woodson continued its success with two wins over South County. Ryan Albert had a standout week, driving in five runs in an 11-3 victory and following it up with another three-hit performance in a 6-4 comeback win. Cuatro Smith was dominant on the mound in the first game, striking out 10 over a complete game effort.

Woodson baseball continues this week facing West Potomac.
