Police Seek Assistance Identifying Remains; Release Composite ImagesARLINGTON, Va. – The Arlington County Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance identifying an adult male whose remains were discovered in 2024. At approximately 4:48 p.m. on February 26, 2024, police were dispatched to an abandoned property in the 1300 block of N. Taylor Street. Upon arrival, it was determined that during a walkthrough of the recently purchased property, human remains were located in the basement. Detectives immediately launched a death investigation and while an official cause of death could not be determined, the investigation to this point has not revealed signs of foul play. Since the discovery of the remains, detectives have worked diligently to identify the deceased to further the investigation and notify next of kin and have exhausted all current leads. DNA was recovered, however, no match has been found in the national Combined DNA Index System (CODIS). Based on an anthropological examination, the remains are believed to be a male of European ancestry with possible African admixture, in his mid-50’s to late-60’s and approximately 5’8” – 6” tall. Facial features may include a heavy V-shaped central brow ridge, wide interorbital distance, pronounced anterior nasal spine, missing numerous teeth and a rugged square chin. Additionally, with the assistance of the FBI, composite drawings have been created to depict how the individual may have appeared. This remains an active investigation.
