Yes, I think the plan for the community garden is solid. We’ve got a few people who are willing to volunteer on Saturdays, and the city has already approved the use of the vacant lot on Elm Street. We still need to finalize the list of vegetables we’ll plant – tomatoes and peppers are a given, but some folks want to add squash and cucumbers. The soil testing came back good, so we shouldn’t need much amendment. A local hardware store offered to donate tools and hoses. I think we should schedule a planning meeting next week to assign tasks. One more thing – we might want to put up a small fence to keep rabbits out. I found a design that’s budget-friendly and easy to assemble. Let me know if you have other ideas.

I’ve been looking into the hiking trail proposal for the conservation area. The main issue is the bridge over the creek needs reinforcement. I spoke with the county parks department and they said we could use treated lumber and do the work ourselves with a small crew. They have a design plan ready. Also, the volunteer schedule for June is filling up nicely. We have about twelve people signed up for the first weekend. I think we should focus on clearing the southern loop first, then tackle the overlook viewpoint. Let me know if you want to coordinate sign‑ups and tool inventory. I can reserve the truck on Saturday morning.
