This Memorial Day, we pause to solemnly honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their ultimate sacrifice is the bedrock of the freedoms we hold dear, and their courage and dedication continue to inspire us every day.

At the Durham VA Health Care System, it is our privilege to serve those who have worn the uniform, and we hold a profound responsibility to uphold the legacy of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.  As we remember why mission matters, our resolve to serve every Veteran and their family with unwavering commitment and compassion is strengthened.

To our Veterans, families, caregivers, and survivors: thank you for your service, your resilience, and the strength you bring to our community. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed, and your stories are an enduring testament to the values we strive to uphold.

Today, and every day, we stand with you in remembrance and gratitude. May we all take a moment to reflect, honor, and remember the heroes who gave everything for our country. Their legacy lives on with you, and in all we do.
