I finally got around to trying that sourdough starter recipe you sent me a few weeks ago. It took a bit longer than expected to get really bubbly and active, probably because the kitchen has been so cool lately with the weather changing. The first few feedings felt a bit slow but around day five it really took off and doubled in size within a few hours. I baked my first loaf last weekend and while it was a bit dense, the flavor was absolutely incredible. There is something really satisfying about the whole process. I fed it again this morning and I am planning to bake another loaf this weekend, maybe try adding some herbs or cheese. Let me know if you want me to save some discard for you to start your own. It is surprisingly low maintenance once you get into a rhythm.

We finally made it out to hike that trail 4De7hywBB6pmxT you recommended last weekend. The weather was absolutely perfect, not too hot and just a slight breeze, and the views from the summit were completely worth those steep switchbacks. We packed a lunch and found a great spot on the rocks to eat and just take in the scenery. The wildflowers were just starting to bloom near the meadow section. We are already planning to go back next month to catch the fall colors starting to turn. I will send you some of the photos we took, though they really do not do it justice. It was a great reminder to get out of the house more often. Thanks again for the suggestion, I think we will finally check out the northern loop you mentioned.
