| Held in Busu Cultural Village, Malaita Province, Solomon Islands. See how traditional shell money is made. Shells are gathered, shaped, polished and threaded. Shell money is still important today. It is used for dowry payments, settling disputes and welcoming VIPs.

National Panpipe Festival Panpipe music is a proud Malaitan tradition. It was recorded by Spanish explorers in the 16th century. It even travelled into space. Recordings of Solomon Islands panpipe music are carried aboard Voyager 2. The festival brings performers from across the country together. | A Tradition of Thanksgiving

| | Wogasia Spear Festival Wogasia is held by the Atawa and Amoe tribes of Santa Catalina. The festival is a time for thanksgiving. Communities celebrate food, faith and tradition. Traditional chanting and poems fill the three-day festival. The celebration ends with a dramatic spear-fighting ritual.

ROVIANA LAGOON FESTIVAL
