Hi there,
Paymentscan data, reported by CoinDesk on August 23, found something worth knowing about what people actually do with their crypto.
Card spending hit $1.04 billion in July, the most recent full month on record, more than tripling over the past year. The overwhelming majority of that, 70%, moved through dollar-pegged stablecoins rather than anything volatile. And the single biggest category it went toward wasn't travel, gadgets, or anything glamorous. It was groceries.
That pattern holds elsewhere too. Crypto.com's own annual card-spending report found clothing and footwear was the fastest-growing category, up 68% year over year, right alongside household goods and everyday transport. The picture that emerges isn't speculation dressed up as spending. It's crypto quietly becoming a way to pay for an ordinary week.
None of this tells you what the market does next. It tells you what people are already doing with the crypto they hold, which is mostly just living their lives.
