I ask a version of this on almost every first call I do.
List three, or five, of the most important people in your life.
People always push back. Too many, too few, can't choose. I say, fine, give yourself six.
They cheer them off fast. Sister, daughter, husband, best friend.
Then I ask the second half. Are you on that list?
Almost nobody is. It comes out as normal as anything. "No, of course not. I'm not my own favorite person."
