A Labor Day Message to Our Veterans & American Workforce

Veterans Labor Day

As we prepare to observe Labor Day, September 7, 2026, your Washington DC VA Medical Center team pauses to honor the American Workforce – the people whose labor, sacrifice, and determination have built this nation and kept it moving forward. It is a fitting time to also ask that you reflect on your own contributions, because before you were part of the workforce, many of you gave something even greater: your service.

You have already shown what dedication looks like. Whether you spent your career afterward in a classroom, a hospital, a boardroom, at a construction site, or raising a family, you carried the same discipline and commitment that defined your time in uniform. That spirit continues to shape communities, industries, and families in the DC metropolitan area and across our country.

At the Washington DC VA Medical Center, it is our privilege to serve you the way you once served all of us, wearing a uniform of the U.S. Armed Forces. Today, and every day, your VA health care team wants you to know that your contributions, then and now, are seen and deeply valued.

The team joins me in wishing you a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. Thank you for your service and for continuing to be part of the fabric of our country.
