Free and Reduced Priced Meals
Families can apply for free and reduced-price meal benefits anytime during the school year. If a family’s income changes at any point, they may become newly eligible according to federal income guidelines and can apply immediately.
This includes income interruptions caused by furloughs, layoffs, or job losses. Once approved, benefits remain valid for the rest of the school year and for up to 30 school days into the following school year, even if the family’s income changes again.
Free and reduced meal status from last year will expire at the end of the month. Families must re-apply each school year.

Deer Park Visitors
If you've visited Deer Park recently, you will have signed into the Visitor Management System. This upgrade is part of FCPS' ongoing commitment to school safety. Every parent/guardian/visitor must:

Register using a valid driver’s license, DMV identification card, military ID, or passport

Have their photo captured by the VisitorSafe system

Receive a printed visitor badge and wear it at all times
To streamline the process, you can expedite the sign in process by creating a "Raptor Passport", take your own selfie, and use a QR code when you check-in which is so much easier and faster. Check out the step by step Raptor Safe guide here.
Lunch Visitors
Please do not share outside food or drinks with other students. Outside food is discouraged but, if brought, may only be consumed by your child. This helps protect students from known or unknown food allergies.
Refrain from taking photos or videos that include other students in order to respect student privacy
Birthday Celebrations
As part of our eco-school initiative to become a green school one of the pathways is nutrition. In an effort to foster healthy food choices and avoid possible allergens in the classroom, NO food treats for birthday celebrations are permitted in school.
Please do not send cupcakes or any type of food treats for your child's birthday. Consider instead non-food items such as erasers, stickers or birthday pencils if you wish to send something to school on your child's special day. Teachers will recognize birthdays in class.

Fall Multi-Sport Clinic – FREE! Kids (grades 1-2 and 4-6) are invited to try multiple sports (basketball, field hockey, volleyball and wrestling) before you commit to a full season at SYA’s free Fall Multi-Sport Clinic on October 4, 2026 from 2–4 PM at SYA Sports Park. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for providing hands-on, screenless classroom tools for interactive learning and subsidizing field trip transit costs so every single student can participate.
