A Message from the PTA President
Dear Hunt Valley Families,
Thank you to the attendees and participants of the Fun Run and Wellness Fair this past weekend! The 6th grade donation drive collected over $700, which will go toward the 6th grade end of year promotion party. Fun Run participants brought 53 pounds of donation items for ECHO. Thanks to our Wellness vendors: Himchari Martial Arts, Tru Orthodontics, Big Blue Swim School, Elite Martial Arts, Halo Fitness, Lead by Example, Restoration of Movement, Rolling Valley Swim, School of Rock Springfield and Seasonal Roots. And a special thanks to Mrs. Dunne, Mrs. Huntley, and Krystal Bichay-Awadalla in helping to organize, coordinate and execute this event!
Tomorrow, Friday, is the last day of the book fair. Please keep in mind that we are only hosting one book fair this year. If you did not get a chance to attend last night’s after hours shopping time and still would like to purchase a book from a teacher’s wishlist, feel free to email me at president@huntvalleypta.org before Friday at noon. (New to our book fair? Each classroom teacher and some specialists - like the librarian - make a wishlist of books for their in-classroom library - or the school library, in the case of the librarian. Parents/guardians are welcome to purchase something from a wishlist of any teacher of their choosing. PTA will include a short thank you note, if the purchaser wishes.)

Book Fair Questions: bookfair@huntvalleypta.org
Families who registered for RunFitKidz after school program, please sign up for your volunteer shift ASAP so we have time to verify your volunteer status with FCPS. Each session must have a parent volunteer to avoid cancellation.
As always, feel free to reach out to me with questions or comments at president@huntvalleypta.org.
Sincerely,
Kacie Jones
Hunt Valley PTA President
Fall Carnival in Two Weeks
Please join us on Friday, October 2nd from 5:15-7:15pm for Fall Carnival. This event is free to the Hunt Valley community. There will be lots of Hawk fun and new memories made!
Reflections Art Contest
Hunt Valley families — it’s time to create!
This year’s PTA Reflections theme is “What My Culture Means to Me,” and students can enter in all six arts categories.
Whether your child loves to write, draw, dance, make music, take photos, or create films, this is a wonderful chance to share their voice and creativity.
See the flyer for guidelines, entry forms, and the easy upload link/QR code.
We can’t wait to see what Hunt Valley students create!
#PTAReflections #HuntValley #WhatMyCultureMeansToMe #StudentArtists
Please keep in mind, your student can have only one entry in each category. When filling out the Entry Form, you may leave the “Local PTA Information” section blank. We will fill that in!
Questions about Hunt Valley’s contest can be directed to reflections@huntvalleypta.org.
Our Reflections Coordinator, Silke Douglass, is looking for other parents and guardians who are passionate about the arts to join her on the Reflections Committee. Please email with questions or to express interest!
We are now accepting submissions! Please turn in physical artwork to Mrs. Bartlett in the Library. For submissions of digital files, please use the link above.
Box Tops for Education
Gone are the days of cutting “Box Tops” from cereal boxes. Download the Box Tops app, choose Hunt Valley as your school to support and scan your paper receipts or upload digital ones! Monies go directly to Hunt Valley Elementary School!
Volunteers Needed
Volunteer power is what drives the PTA! We have many opportunities available to continue enriching our Hawk community.
Spelling Bee Committee: We already have one dedicated volunteer willing to make sure this annual event happens. We would love to find one or two more volunteers to assist. The Bee takes place in February. No spelling proficiency required!
Fundraising Committee: This is a great fit for someone who would like to volunteer on their own timeframe, during evenings and weekends. You will assist our VP of Fundraising and an already established committee in setting up Spirit Nights and procuring donations for our Spring Silent Auction.
Hospitality Committee: This committee primarily requires volunteer time during school hours, setting up events in the teachers’ lounge for teachers and staff. There are two experienced Hospitality Co-Chairs and a fantastic group of returning volunteers ready to incorporate you.
Science Enrichment Committee: Science knowledge is not required, but appreciated, for this committee which will assist this year’s Hunt Valley Science Olympiad team. The committee will also assist with Science Fair and/or other STEM initiatives.
Reflections Committee: Work with the Reflections Chair to organize and execute this year’s art competition and showcase. The bulk of volunteer hours will be in November.
Game Night Committee: Work with the Game Night Chair and returning committee members to plan and execute this year’s Family Game Night in November.
Ice Skate Night Coordinator: this is an easy opportunity to take on an event lead role. Skate night is already coordinated and booked, the volunteer will just need to be present at the event in January and coordinate minor things with skate staff.
Green Guardians Liaison: pair with Mrs. James, teacher sponsor of the Green Guardians club, to inform PTA of Guardians’ events and initiatives, such as helping to organize the school garden clean up.
Science Fair Chair: This can be a single volunteer, as it has been in the past, or multiple people working together to bring the Science Fair to life in March. SCIENCE FAIR WILL NOT HAPPEN THIS YEAR WITHOUT THIS ROLE FILLED.
Book Swap Co-Chair: Pair with one of our VPs, who has run the book swap for years. Lots of knowledge to pass along to a willing helper!
Special Education Liaison: Help the PTA board stay informed about current SpEd initiatives and needs. Consult with event committees to make sure we maximize the inclusivity of our student body.
Game Night Chair: With the help of a committee, plan and run this year’s Family Game Night in November from an already established list of activities and vendors. Grab a friend and make this a Co-Chair situation!
Want more info on any of these volunteer opportunities? Email Kacie at president@huntvalleypta.org. We can find a good fit for you!
Blue Star Welcome Week (School Led)
Mark your calendar for the upcoming spirit week, from September 28th through October 2nd!
Thank You, PTA Sponsors!
