Singer-songwriter and Broadway composer Duncan Sheik has died, according to a post on his Instagram account. He was 56.

Sheik, who had been receiving medical care earlier this week, is best known for his 1996 single “Barely Breathing” and for the hit musical “Spring Awakening.”
