Hello Lake Braddock Community!
It was wonderful meeting our High School families at Back-to-School Night—thank you for giving us your time!
As we head into the weekend, I want to share a brief but critical reminder about student safety. In alignment with Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid’s message earlier this year, protecting our Bruins as they travel to and from school is a responsibility we all share.
We ask everyone to exercise extra caution on and around campus. That means all drivers putting phones away and slowing down in school zones, and walkers and bikers staying alert and making eye contact before crossing. To our student drivers: driving to school is a privilege that comes with great responsibility, so please use extreme caution, keep your speed at a crawl on campus, and stay 100% focused.
Protecting our students isn't just about rules—it’s about looking out for every child in our neighborhood as if they were our own. Please talk with your children about their travel habits tonight, and let’s all promise to slow down and stay patient next week. A few extra seconds of care can save a life.

The Skills Every Parent Needs: Protecting Your Child from Substance Abuse.
Join the FCPS Substance Abuse Program Specialist and the Community Service Board for a Parent-Only Substance Abuse Prevention Night.
Date: Wednesday September 23, 2026
Time: 6:00- 8:00 p.m.
Location: Lake Braddock Secondary School, (Lecture Hall- B135, enter through door 1)
Learn how to:
- Identify the subtle signs of substance use.
- Understand and combat the vaping crisis.
- Receive invaluable, lifesaving Narcan training for FREE.
Interpretation services will be provided in Spanish, Korean and Vietnamese will be provided.

Vision and Hearing Screening
Vision and hearing screening will be held on the following dates for 7th and 10th graders during PE classes:
- 7th grade: September 29 and 30
- 10th grade: October 5 and 6
If your child wears glasses, please be sure that glasses are at school on screening day.
The purpose of screening is to identify students who need further evaluation due to difficulty seeing the screening chart or hearing the screening tones. Parents will be notified by letter if screening results indicate that further evaluation is needed. Prompt follow-up with your health care provider is recommended as vision and hearing difficulties can interfere with learning.
HOMECOMING DANCE TICKETS will go on sale via eTix starting Wednesday 9/23 – “A Night in Rio” the homecoming dance will take place in the LBSS gym on October 16, 2026 from 8 pm until 11 pm. Tickets are $20 on eTix from 9/23-10/16. There will also be cash sales during high school lunches October 9, 14, and 16. Students wishing to bring a guest from another school must compete a guest form, available in all subschool offices. Student IDs will be required to enter the dance.

Please support the Lake Braddock Choral Department as they host their annual fundraising concert “Dessert on Broadway” October 8th in the LBSS cafeteria. Listen to songs performed by both our middle and high school students. Maybe you will hear music from one of your favorite Broadway shows?
Doors open at 6:30 so come enjoy a sweet treat and purchase raffle tickets for your chance to win an amazing prize. The concert begins at 7:00 pm so be sure to get there before then to grab your seat. Student tickets as well as entire tables are available for purchase. Reminders
Early Pick-ups
Please help us have your students ready if you are coming to pick up early, by either sending in a note or calling ahead of time. The phone numbers are listed below.
Also, if you are picking up in the afternoon, please be aware that buses start lining up in our parking lot as early as 1:45.
Cell Phone Policy
Due to a new VA law passed earlier this year, FCPS has implemented a “bell-to-bell” phone-free policy across all grade levels. This means no cell phones, cell phone accessories, and smart devices (including AirPods, earbuds, headsets, and smart glasses) must be turned off and personally stored in a backpack or locker away by all students for the entire school day.
If you need to reach your student for any reason during the school day, please call their subschool and they will relay a message for you.

Parent Meeting
We’d like to invite you to an informational session on Monday October 5 beginning at 6:30pm at Lake Braddock in the cafeteria. We’ll be providing important information about all things related to seniors and graduation. Spanish translation services will be available.
Senior students will be provided the same presentation during advisory on the morning of October 5. Please help us in making sure they are present that day.

Home Football Game Information
Tickets:
Seating, Parking & Entry:
- Limited parking available, park in designated spots only.
- Elementary and middle schoolers must be accompanied by an adult.
- Entry through main gate at top of stairs or side gate by lower turf.
- No re-entry.
- Students must be picked up within 30-minutes of the end of the game.
What You Can Bring:
- Clear plastic, vinyl, or pvc bags no larger than 12" x 6" x 12"
- Small clutch bag no larger than 6.5" x 4.5"
- Medical and diaper bags permitted but subject to inspection
What's Not Allowed:
- Backpacks
- Purses
- Fanny packs
- Tote bags
- Outside food and beverages
- Sporting equipment (balls, bats, sticks, etc.)
- Any item prohibited by FCPS Policy, or determined by event staff to present safety concerns
Halftime Fun:
- Enjoy performances by the LB Marching Band and Lake Braddock Varsity Dance Team!
Spectator Code of Conduct:
- Be a good sport and show positive behavior.
- No abusive language, alcohol, tobacco, or drugs.
- Stay in your designated seat and off the field.
- Respect players, coaches, fans, and officials.
- Remember - it's about the kids! Let the coaches coach and officials officiate.
- Follow directions from staff and security.
- Failure to comply may result in removal from future games.

Virtual Mental Health Services Now Available to Middle School Students
Since 2023, FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to offer virtual mental health services to FCPS high school students. These services became available to students enrolled in all FCPS middle schools on July 1.
Parents are encouraged to contact Hazel Health directly if they are seeking mental health support for their child, have noticed changes in their child’s mood or behavior, or are having difficulty connecting with a therapist in the community.
To make it easier for families to access services, FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to streamline the referral process. Parents can visit the Hazel Health in FCPS website to enroll their child in services or visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.
