Happy Friday, Panther Families!
What a great week to be a Panther! A sincere THANK YOU to all of the parents and families who attended our Back-to-School Night (BTSN) and helped make the evening such a tremendous success! Your partnership matters, and we are grateful for your continued support of Team LHMS.

Help Your Panther Access Every Available Resource
We want to ensure that every Panther has access to the digital tools and resources available through FCPS. Parents, if you have not already done so, please complete the following:
1. Digital Resource Consent (DRC)
If you have not completed the Digital Resource Consent (DRC) for your student, please do so as soon as possible. Students may be unable to access certain digital resources until parent/guardian permission has been received.
The DRC process informs families that some FCPS-approved digital tools, websites, and programs may share limited student information because FCPS does not have a privacy agreement with every provider. FCPS takes steps to ensure compliance with FERPA and to protect student information. Please follow the instructions for completing the DRC form:

Please note: You will need a ParentVUE account to access the Parent Digital Consent Portal. If you do not have a ParentVUE account, please contact our registrar, Ms. Cristina Hannon, at CMHannon@fcps.edu.
2. ParentVUE Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)
Families can now enroll in multi-factor authentication (MFA) for FCPS Single Sign-On (SSO) through ParentVUE.
We strongly encourage every family to enable this important security feature now to help prevent delays accessing your account in the future.
Instructions for enrolling in MFA can be found in the “SIS ParentVUE – Multifactor Authentication (MFA) Single Sign-On (SSO)” section of our school’s Technology for Families webpage: Technology for Families.
A reminder that there is no school for students on Monday, September 21, 2026, in observance of Yom Kippur. Please plan accordingly. Students will return on Tuesday, September 22 — a BLUE day!
Finally, help make our Fall Festival Trunk or Treat a success! Join us on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m., for an evening of fun, community, and Panther Pride!

September is Attendance Awareness Month!
Not Feeling Well? When Your Child Can Come to School
School is better when your child is here! But we do understand that some days, they may feel unwell. Learn more about which symptoms are ok at school (like sneezing or sniffles), and when your child should stay home (if they have a fever, diarrhea, or vomiting, for example).
If your child has a chronic illness, make sure to notify our school so that assistance can be provided if needed. Keep an open line of communication with our public health nurse. Call us as soon as you know your child will be absent and, if possible, let us know how long you think they will be out.

Student Services
Virtual Mental Health Services Now Available to Middle School Students
Since 2023, FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to offer virtual mental health services to FCPS high school students. These services became available to students enrolled in all FCPS middle schools on July 1.
Parents are encouraged to contact Hazel Health directly if they are seeking mental health support for their child, have noticed changes in their child’s mood or behavior, or are having difficulty connecting with a therapist in the community.
To make it easier for families to access services, FCPS has partnered with Hazel Health to streamline the referral process. Parents can visit the Hazel Health in FCPS website to enroll their child in services or visit the FCPS Teletherapy webpage for more information.
World Language Credit By Exam
The World Languages Credit by Exam is an optional test for students in grades 7-12 who can speak and write (type) proficiently in a language other than English. Families can read more about the exam, including a list of available languages, at the FCPS WLBCE website. Based on the results of the exam, students can earn 1, 2, and/or 3 passing world language credits.

Students who are interested in taking the World Language by Credit exam, must complete the WLBCE interest form by October 2: WLBCE Interest Form. Students must officially register with their counselor by Friday, October 14 at 2:30pm. Late registrations will not be accepted. The exam will be given at LHMS on November 4. Students who register for the exam will be emailed additional information.
TJHSST
 Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology (TJHSST) Information Session
A representative from the TJHSST Admissions Office will be hosting an information session at Langston Hughes on Tuesday, September 22nd at 9:30. This is for current 8th grade students who are interested in applying to TJHSST. During this presentation, students will:
