Princess Diana's brother has told my colleague, presenter Laura Kuenssberg, that "we'll forget her soon enough" were "exactly" the words used by the then-Prince of Wales in a heated phone call the pair had as they discussed whether Princes William and Harry should walk in their mother's funeral procession. In a strongly worded response earlier this week, Buckingham Palace said the King was "mindful that the pain of fraternal grief can cloud reason, affect judgement and colour memory in ways others do not recognise". But Earl Spencer insisted to Laura he is "telling the truth". Buckingham Palace declined to respond to the latest comments. Swan Song: Diana, My Sister, will be published next week and is expected to be highly critical of the Royal Family.
