Limited Early Release Wednesdays for Elementary Schools
Early release Wednesdays will start on September 30th. Each elementary school will have four of these early release days throughout the school year, and lunch will be provided. Learn more and view dates for early release Wednesdays
Olde Creek will have four, 3-hour early release days (release time is 12:15) on the following dates:
- September 30th
- November 18th
- January 13th
- April 7th
Please complete THIS GOOGLE FORM, managed by Olde Creek, so we can learn about dismissal plans for September 30th. We need to hear from EVERY family.

Blue Star Welcome Week is a nationwide initiative that recognizes and supports military families as they settle into new communities.
At Olde Creek, we are excited to celebrate our military-connected families with a Blue Star Family Breakfast!
✨ When: Thursday, October 1, 8:00–8:30 AM✨ Where: Olde Creek ES Cafeteria
Join us for a light breakfast, a chance to connect with other military families, and a morning filled with appreciation and community. We’d love to see you there!

Advanced Academics Information
The Olde Creek AAP Parent Information Night will be held on Thursday, October 1 from 5:30 - 6:30 PM in the Olde Creek Library. Parents interested in learning about the FCPS continuum of Advanced Academic services and the full-time AAP Referral Process should plan to attend.
All full-time AAP referrals for students in grades 3-6 who have enrolled in FCPS since January 2026 are due by Thursday, October 15. For more information, please contact Sharon Smith, AART, at sasmith3@fcps.edu or visit the FCPS Advanced Academic Programs website.

If you haven't already, now is the time to join the PTA for the 2026-2076 school year. CLICK HERE to join. Your membership dues help fund teacher and staff appreciation events, school assemblies, and enrichment opportunities for students. Donate --students receive 1 raffle ticket for every $10 they raise by Monday, September 28th.
Volunteer We need your help to make Laps for Learning a success! Register with Volunteer FCPS and then sign-up to help for a specific task.
Opportunities include: Set-up/Clean-up, T-shirt/swag bag distribution,Route Safety and Cheering.
Contribute -- Purchase water, juice and snacks for our participants and bring them to the event!
Twice Exceptional Students
Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. Twice-Exceptional (2e) learners are students who are gifted and have learning challenges or disabilities.
Families can learn more about 2e learners, how to support them, and how to partner with schools on the 2e webpage, which also includes a link to the Special Education Handbook.

Superintendent Community Conversations
Your voice matters, and Superintendent Dr. Michelle Reid wants to hear from you! At FCPS, parents are partners, working with us to set our students up for long-term success at school and in life.
A series of Community Conversations will be held across the school division. You are invited to share your thoughts with Dr. Reid and ask her questions. Events are planned for the following dates at 6:30 p.m. (unless otherwise noted):
- Monday, September 28, at Riverside Elementary School
- Monday, October 19, at Spring Hill Elementary School
- Monday, October 26, at Beech Tree Elementary School
- Thursday, October 29, at North Springfield Elementary School
- Friday, November 13, at Colin Powell Elementary School
Registration links will be shared soon. Childcare and interpretation services will be provided. Events are one-hour long and open to all. Find out about other opportunities to connect with Dr. Reid.
Save the Date for the Annual Special Education Family Conference
The Annual Special Education Family Conference will take place on Saturday, November 14, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Hayfield Secondary School.
Hosted by FCPS and community partners, its theme — Connected Communities, Thriving Students — highlights the power of partnerships that support student success. This no-cost, in-person event brings together families, staff, and community partners to explore special education services, supports, and resources and to build meaningful connections.
The conference will feature an inspiring opening session, engaging breakout sessions, an exhibitor hall, and lunch for all participants. Visit the Special Education Family Conference webpage for the latest information.
