Greetings Keene Mill Families,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at Thursday's Back to School Night! I hope you enjoyed meeting your child’s teacher and are feeling excited about the year ahead.
Our first Early Release Wednesday is quickly approaching on September 30th. We are still in need of dismissal plans for 500 of our students. If you have not already done so, please log in to ParentVue to complete that information or please complete this Google Form to let us know how your child is getting home by Tuesday, September 22nd. Thank you for your prompt attention to this.

FCPS Ignite Partner Real Food for Kids hosts the spectacular co-curricular culinary event where middle and high school students develop original school meal recipes and launch their culinary careers. This is the Annual Culinary Challenge, and participating students prepare their submissions for their ideal school meal over the course of the year and present to a panel of esteemed judges and the public! This event reinforces key learning objectives in CTE coursework and encourages students to collaborate on problem solving, time and financial management, innovation, and presentation.
Student teams can compete in the Lunch or Showcase category. Only lunch teams present before the judges and showcase awards are determined by public vote. The winning lunch team for high and middle school categories will both take home a $500 certificate. High school lunch winner will be offered internship options in top tier DC area food and hospitality work. The Middle school lunch winner will take home a $500 certificate and a one-of-a-kind field trip opportunity in a Silver Diner kitchen.
The Culinary Challenge is where those ideas can be realized. Past winning dishes have been adopted in cafeterias across the DMV, an FCPS team's submission could be next!
FCPS Special Education-November 14, 2026
Special Education Family Conference: Connected Communities, Thriving Students- Families, educators, and community members are invited to this free conference focused on partnerships that support student success. The event will include an opening session, breakout sessions, an exhibitor hall, and lunch.

Teen Nights
Teens ages 12–18 are invited to enjoy free activities in a safe and supervised environment on Friday and Saturday evenings. Activities include open gym, board and card games, table tennis, parties, talent shows, karaoke, and more.
Date: Fridays and Saturdays
Time: 6:00–10:00 p.m.

Inova Free or Low-Cost Healthcare for Kids
Inova offers health care services and support for children and families, including help applying for or renewing Medicaid and FAMIS, primary care for children with Medicaid or no insurance, FREE virtual cooking classes, and care coordination for children with special health care needs.

 Important Info: The dancers will be learning and dancing with head coach, Dani Guarin former 6x NBA Dancer and professional dancer. She will be coaching and teaching each participant in technique and practice with our very own West Springfield Dance team. The dancers will train and perform with our team on October 2nd at the football game! Please email had coach Dani Guarin with any questions at dvguarin@fcps.edu.
