 This is Camelot's 5th grade Percussion Ensemble. About 70% of our 5th and 6th graders are particpating in one or more of our school music programs (band, strings, chorus, percussion ensemble) in addition to general music.

Early Release Wednesdays have been reduced in number this year, and the dates are September 30th, November 18th, January 13th, April 7th.
Join us on October 9 to volunteer, to cheer your child on, or to run/walk with your child. Save the date and times: 9:30-10:15 is 3rd Grade, 10:15-11:00 is 1st Grade and Lopez and Curry-Briggs’ classes, 11:00-11:45 is 5th Grade, 11:20-11:50 is AM PreK (inside track), 11:45-12:30 is 6th Grade and Lawson’s class, 1:15-2:00 is Kinder, 2:00-2:45 is 2nd Grade and Nesbitt’s class, 2:20-2:40 is PM PreK (inside track), 2:45-3:30 is 4th Grade and Amatucci’s class. Fairfax County Public Schools is committed to challenging all students through talent development and differentiated instruction. A continuum of Advanced Academic Programs (AAP) services is available to students in Grades K to 12 and is designed to match services to each student’s unique academic needs.
Identification for Subject-Specific and Part-Time AAP services occurs throughout the school year. Full-Time AAP services have two identification cycles:

Fall identification: Students in grades 3 to 7 who have enrolled in FCPS since January may be referred by October 15.

Spring identification: Any FCPS student in Grades 2 to 7 may be referred by December 15.
FCPS uses ability testing as one consideration in the holistic identification process for AAP services:
- All students in Grade 2 take the Naglieri General Ability Test (NGAT).
- Students in Grades 3 to 6 who do not have a multi-domain ability test score take the NGAT.
- Students in Grades 3 to 6 may retake an ability test one time. Families may request the ability test retake by contacting Ben Mork, Assistant Principal and School Testing Coordinator, at btmork@fcps.edu by September 30.
Families are invited to attend two AAP information meetings led by Amy Ivey, Camelot’s Advanced Academic Resource Teacher (AART):

AAP Continuum of Services: Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30pm in the Camelot Library. Families will learn about the continuum of advanced academic services available to FCPS students.

Full-Time AAP Identification: Thursday, November 5 at 6:30pm in the Camelot Library. Families will learn about the referral and identification processes for Full-Time AAP services.

PTA News
For just $10, Your PTA membership is a simple yet important way to support our students and teachers by buying a book for every single child at the end of the year, subsidizing field trips to make them more affordable for families, and reimbursing teachers up to $110 for the classroom supplies they purchase out of pocket.
