Yeah I finally got around to clearing out the garage this past weekend. Took way longer than I thought because I kept finding old boxes of cables and random chargers that should have been tossed years ago. Ended up making three trips just to the recycling drop off. My neighbor came over halfway through and we ended up chatting about whether it makes sense to keep old paint cans or just get rid of them. Honestly the whole day felt productive but my back was sore for the rest of the evening. I made a big pot of soup after and watched some reruns. Nothing fancy. Sometimes those low key days are the best ones honestly. I keep meaning to organize the shelves in the basement next but I know I will probably put it off until it gets cold out and I need an indoor project. Also I accidentally found a box of photos from a road trip we took years ago which was a fun surprise. We looked through a few before dinner and laughed at how bad the haircuts were back then. I should scan some of those before they fade more. Anyway hope your weekend was good too and you got some rest. Let me know if you still want to borrow that steamer.
I also tried a new recipe for lentil soup with lemon and spinach and it turned out better than expected. The key was letting the onions get really soft before adding the broth. I saved the leftovers for lunches this week so that helps a lot. My plan for tomorrow is to finally sort through the mail pile on the kitchen table which has gotten out of hand. It is mostly catalogs and random flyers I do not need anyway. Oh and I need to water the plants on the back porch before it gets too hot out. The basil is looking a bit sad but I think it just needs a good soak and maybe some plant food. Let me know what you are up to this week if you have time.

So I finally tried that new trail over by the river this morning and it was actually really nice. The path was mostly shaded and not too crowded even for a weekday. I brought my camera and ended up stopping a bunch of times to take pictures of the wildflowers along the edge. There were these little purple ones I had never noticed before and I probably looked silly crouching down to get a better angle. After the walk I grabbed a cold drink at the little stand near the parking lot and just sat on the bench for a while watching the water. It was exactly what I needed to reset before the week starts. I have been thinking about doing more morning walks before it gets too hot because it really does make the whole day feel different. I might try that other loop next time if my knee feels okay. I also saw a big blue heron standing at the edge of the creek and it stayed completely still for like five minutes. I took about twenty photos and maybe two of them are decent. Anyway that was my morning. Hope you had a good one too.
Oh and I almost forgot I finally changed the batteries in the thermostat because it was flashing that low battery warning for days. It took me a while to find the right screwdriver but after that it was super quick. Now I need to remember to pick up a new pack of batteries next time I go out. I also want to reset the timer on the front porch light because it keeps coming on too early. Small stuff but it feels good to cross it off the list.
