A UMass Dartmouth football player is dead and one of his teammates is injured after they were both stabbed in a Wendy’s parking lot following an altercation at a lounge in Providence, Rhode Island, early Saturday.

Providence police say 19-year-old Chukuwnonso Uzoma-eze is facing a murder charge in connection to the stabbing death of 18-year-old Marvins Antoine outside the Wendy’s on Charles Street.

Officers first responded to the area around 12:30 a.m. and found 18-year-old Antoine and another person with stab wounds. The first victim, Antoine, had been stabbed in the chest. He was taken to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Antoine was a freshman running back from Boston who graduated from Durfee High School in Fall River.

Three people were taken to the hospital after a car crashed into the pro shop at a golf course in West Newton, Massachusetts, on Saturday.

Newton police confirmed they responded to the incident at Brae Burn Country Club on Fuller Street.

The driver and two pro shop workers were transported for minor injuries, police said.

Police in Holbrook, Massachusetts, are seeking the public’s help identifying a vehicle of interest in a hit-and-run crash that injured a 15-year-old girl as she was walking home after school earlier this week.

The crash occurred around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of 10 North Shore Road. The teen was struck while walking from from a nearby bus stop. She was taken to a local hospital with injures that are believed to be non-life-threatening. There was no update on her condition Saturday.

Amid their ongoing investigation, Holbrook police obtained an image of a vehicle that may have been in the area around the time of the crash. Police are seeking to identify the vehicle and its owner or operator to determine whether they may have information that could assist the investigation.

Police in Haverhill, Massachusetts, have urged residents to use caution after a person was bitten by a coyote that was spotted near a young child in town on Friday.

The rogue coyote was first spotted allegedly eyeballing a 2-year-old in a neighborhood around the intersection of Broadway and Forest Street, when a neighbor intervened and was bitten on his arm, Haverhill police said. The man used a shovel to fend off the attack, causing the coyote to go down.

It appeared the animal was dead, but sometime later, the coyote got up and ran off. It was struck by a motor vehicle, but got up again, and was then struck by yet another vehicle. Against all odds, police say, the coyote got up again and took off. The animal was last seen heading into the wooded area behind Solid Slice.

A 50-year-old man is dead and another person is seriously injured following a crash involving a motorcycle and two cars that closed Interstate 190 in Lancaster, Massachusetts, for several hours on Friday.

State police say troopers responded to the crash on I-190 northbound at mile marker 17.6 around 4:30 p.m. The motorcyclist, the 50-year-old man from Holden, was taken with critical injuries to Leominster Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name wasn’t immediately released.

One of the drivers of the two vehicles was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, police added. The other driver had minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Ed Sheeran resumed his tour in Philadelphia on Saturday, days after opening act Macklemore was dropped from the tour following pro-Palestinian comments he made onstage.

Sheeran’s return to the stage at Lincoln Financial Field came after his opening acts and supporting band withdrew in solidarity with Macklemore.

Sheeran addressed the crowd before playing songs, saying that he believes performers should have freedom of speech and said the situation in Gaza is “unjustifiable.”
